The M.O.T.D. was founded in 1989 to further the appreciation and understanding of the New Hampshire outdoors. Based in Manchester, New Hampshire the M.O.T.D. organized and led many trips in the White Mountains. These ranged from simple day hikes to multi-day treks into the wilderness.

Today, the M.O.T.D. has a larger membership, and is still quite active. While the organization continues to plan trips into the mountains of New Hampshire, including the yearly winter pilgrimage to Hi-Cabin, near the summit of Mt. Cardigan, it has expanded into other areas. This includes different types of outdoor activities such as cycling and rafting, as well as trips throughout North America.

For a better understanding of the M.O.T.D. and what it is all about, several documents are available. The M.O.T.D. Constitution explains how the M.O.T.D. is governed. The FAQ will answer many of your questions, and the Trip Reports page contains trip reports as well as many photographs.
